The Age Of Disconnect
We live in an era of high connectivity, yet low connection - society is more digitally connected than ever, yet most of us feel more and more isolated.
The great plague of our time is disconnect. We are increasingly disconnected from ourselves, from each other and from the planetary metabolism we call “nature” as if we weren’t part of it. This disconnect is threatening our survival as a species.
Existing social media do not provide deep connection - in fact they often do the opposite - fostering FOMO, lack of self-worth, political polarization (othering), intolerance, anxiety, depression, anger and loneliness.
What Is Black Elephant?
Black Elephant is a next-generation, experiential social network. Its very purpose is to build community, at both the local and the global level, by bringing very different people together and forging genuine connection between them, through the sharing of intimacy and vulnerability.
It’s a social network that makes people feel better and improves their mental health.
It’s also the ultimate landing tool, allowing newcomers and visitors to a city/country to build a network of meaningful and non-transactional relationships ahead of time that will radically transform their experience on the ground.
Black Elephant Parades
The technical term for a pack of pachyderms is a parade. Black Elephant parades are the building blocks of the Black Elephant network. They happen in groups of 6-10 people.
In-depth connection, relatedness and empathy are best generated through the sharing of intimacy and vulnerability. Addiction recovery groups focus on building connection by creating spaces where people can be open and vulnerable - this is extremely effective.
In-person Black Elephant parades allow members to engage with improbable people from their own backyard.
Virtual Black Elephant parades allow members to engage with improbable people from all over the world.

The Black Elephant Values
1. Openness to otherness.
2. Vulnerability & identification as the most effective cement for deeper connection.
3. Genuine identification happens around what we feel, rather than what we think. This is the great equalizer.
4. Black Elephant is committed to a vision of diversity that is neither normative nor cosmetic. Our algorithm ensures each black Elephant parade brings together people from different walks of life, different income and levels of education, cultural backgrounds, creeds, ethnicities, etc.
